Carbon Footprint and Emissions
Reclaimed wood is one of the most sustainable materials and is generally more sustainable than virgin wood . Reclaimed wood has significantly lower embodied energy compared to new timber since it does not require new harvesting, eliminating the extraction phase and its associated energy usage. Reclaimed wood keeps its carbon storage role throughout the process of being taken from old structures, transported, manufactured, and put into new projects.
Superior Strength and Density

The wood we work with has already done the job.

We work with two reclaimed hardwoods from Indonesia. Both recovered from dismantled structures. Both verified before they move. Both chosen because they can stand alongside, and often exceed, new hardwood in strength, stability and durability.
Reclaimed Ulin
Ulin (Eusideroxylon zwageri) is one of the most durable hardwoods in the world. Density 1,100 kg/m³. Durability class 1 in water and ground. Naturally resistant to rot, fungi and insects - without treatment.
Traditionally used in the heaviest structures across Kalimantan. Bridges, jetties, roads and large-scale constructions where failure was not an option. That is the material we recover.
Expected lifespan outdoors: 50+ years. And reclaimed Ulin performs better than newly harvested.
Decades of in-service seasoning means the wood has already done its moving. Less warping. Less splitting.
More stable than the day it was cut.
Available for decking, cladding and construction that needs to last.

Reclaimed Teak
Indonesian Teak (Tectona grandis) recovered from structural use in Indonesia. Dense, stable and naturally resistant to the elements. Suited for marine applications, outdoor construction and interiors where longevity and character matter.
Every piece carries the marks of its previous life -
grain, patina and variation that cannot be replicated in newly harvested timber.
Not stored. Not artificially aged. Not made to look old.
The wood has already proven itself.
Our job is to prove everything else.

Applications & Specifications
Reclaimed Ulin and reclaimed Teak are different materials.
Different origins. Different characteristics. Different strengths.
What they share is a first life already lived and performance already proven.
Reclaimed hardwood is often assumed to be a compromise on performance. The data says otherwise. Reclaimed Ulin in particular frequently outperforms newly harvested timber - decades of in-service seasoning produce a material that is denser, more stable and more resistant than the day it was cut.

The most direct application for reclaimed Ulin. Dense, stable and naturally resistant to water and ground contact. It does not swell, warp or splinter the way softer hardwoods do.
Already in use in private terraces in Denmark and Australia.
Reclaimed Teak is equally well suited for decking in demanding environments, particularly where a warmer tone and finer grain are specified.

Reclaimed Ulin handles exposure without treatment. The natural patina deepens over time, giving facades a character that only improves with age. Suited for both residential and commercial projects where durability and appearance need to work together.

Class 1 durability (EN 350). Both Ulin and Teak have long histories in waterfront structures and marine applications. Naturally resistant to moisture, rot and marine borers.
That performance carries directly into new marine construction and waterfront projects.

Where the material is used inside, the focus shifts to character.
Reclaimed Teak is particularly well suited here - stable, refined and with a grain and warmth that works in floors, wall cladding and joinery.
Reclaimed Ulin brings a more raw, dense presence to structural details and feature elements.

Anyone can say a material is reclaimed. We work backwards from that claim - documenting every step from the original structure in Indonesia to delivery in Europe or Australia. Not because we are asked to. Because without it, the material cannot be trusted, specified or defended.

FSC® Recycled 100%
Wood be Good is FSC® Recycled 100% certified (SA-COC-012369-P).
This means every piece of material we supply is verified as reclaimed — recovered from post-consumer or post-industrial sources. No virgin timber. No newly harvested wood. The certification provides independent verification of what we have always worked to: a fully documented chain of custody from source to delivery.
SVLK
Our Indonesian supplier holds SVLK certification — the Indonesian government's timber legality verification system. It confirms that the timber has been legally sourced and processed in accordance with Indonesian forestry law.
For reclaimed material, this is particularly significant. It means the origin, handling and export of the material has been independently verified within the Indonesian regulatory framework.
LCA / EPD
A Life Cycle Assessment and Environmental Product Declaration are currently in progress. These will provide independently verified data on the carbon footprint and environmental impact of our materials across their full lifecycle.

Sourcing & Restoration
The material does not come to us
We go to it. Sourcing reclaimed hardwood is not a desk job. It requires being present, traveling to where the material is, understanding what it has been part of and making judgements that cannot be made from a distance.
Where we work
We source material from dismantled structures across Borneo, Indonesia. Bridges, buildings, jetties and infrastructure that have completed their first life. Material that has already been tested by decades of load, weather and use.
Indonesia has a fragmented system for reclaimed wood — salvagers, small mills, workshops and traders operating across a wide geography. We work across that chain. On the ground. In person.
How we find it
We travel to where the material is. We visit sites, assess structures and work directly with local partners who understand the material and the region. We look at what the wood has been part of, how it has performed and whether it meets our standard.
If it does not meet our standard — we leave it. We do not buy anonymously. We do not source remotely. We do not move material we have not seen.
What we bring
We are not traders who move material at arm's length. Among our founders is a craftsman with deep expertise in wood — someone who understands the material from the inside. That knowledge is part of every sourcing decision we make. We know what good reclaimed hardwood looks like, feels like and performs like. That is what we look for.
What we are looking for
Real structural origin, material that has been part of a functioning structure, not stored or unused timber. Physical evidence of use, the grain, density and condition that confirm a full first life.
Stability suited for construction and export — material that will perform in its next application as well as it did in its first. Verified origin, traceable back to the structure it came from.
The wood has already proven itself.
Our job starts with finding it.
Reclaimed Ulin does not need to be made beautiful.
It already is.
People expect reclaimed wood to look rough. Reclaimed Ulin does not. What arrives after restoration is warm, dense and refined, with a depth of colour and grain that new timber simply has not had the time to develop.
Centuries of growth produce a density and colour that no newly harvested timber can match.
Decades in bridges and structures across Borneo deepen the grain and settle the surface into something warm, rich and consistent, in a way that only time can produce.
Our job is to prepare it. Not to change it.
What happens
Every piece is individually inspected and processed by hand, by people who understand the material.
Fixings and surface remnants from the previous structure are removed. The wood is machined to consistent dimensions suited for construction and export. Small holes and fixings from previous use are filled and finished by hand, work that requires skill and attention, and leaves the surface clean and ready without hiding what the material has been through.
Then it is checked again. Every piece, before it leaves.

Our primary route to market is through hardware stores and material distributors, partners who can bring verified reclaimed hardwood to a broader market and make it available to the architects, contractors and builders who specify and install it.
We also work directly with architects, contractors, interior designers and furniture makers on projects where the material needs to be specified, sourced and documented from the start.
